Calcasieu Parish School System News Release
October 14, 2005
Schools will open on Tuesday, October 25, 2005.
Students will report on Tuesday, October 25, 2005.
Teachers, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers report on Monday, October 24, 2005
35 minutes added to the end of each school day (same start time)
January 17 and March 27 teacher inservice days cancelled, become instructional days
May 29, 30, and 31 become instructional days
Mossville facility closed until further notice
Head Start closed to students until further notice
Head Start teachers and staff report to work on Monday, October 24, 2005
CPSB will continue to pay employees monthly as regularly scheduled. September Paychecks may be picked up in the Payroll Department, Monday - Friday, 8 am - Noon and 1 - 4 pm in Temp Building #67 at 1724 Kirkman Street. Picture ID required; employee only may pick up check.
Reopening Issues:
United States Department of Public Health must inspect every room in every school before it can reopen
Cafeterias must be certified by USDPH before they can receive food
15,000 gallons of diesel fuel per week needed for buses
Mold problems continue across school district
Nationally certified mold/mildew inspectors hired by CPSB to test all facilities
High School Football:
Football stadiums will not to be used until structural engineers have certified them to be safe.
Most high school teams will continue their football season the week of October 21st. Game schedules will be revamped and released as soon as the information is available
